Butterscotch Candy

2 cup sugar
1/4 cup butter
4 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon vinegar

Combine all the ingredients and cook until a little tried in cold water forms a brittle or hard ball. Pour into a buttered pan and when cool, cut in squares. Source: Pennsylvania Dutch Cook Book - Fine Old Recipes, Culinary Arts Press, 1936.
